A: Unit proficiencies are the goals for a given academic unit in class. They are tasks that student should be able to accomplish at the end of a given unit.

 

Q: How are knowing the unit proficiencies useful to students?

A: Tests and other assessments in class ideally measure if students have attained the skills listed in the unit proficiencies. Therefore, looking at the unit proficiencies can help a student prepare for an assessment, by letting her know on what skills she will be evaluated.

A: As a parent, knowing the unit proficiencies for your daughter's class lets you know what she should be able to do after completing a given unit i. Also, it allows you to evaluate her progress in class yourself and assist her in preparing for assessments.
